This year students will be digging deeper into reading strategies and improving their writing skills. They will be exposed to and read a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts/articles and will learn to utilize specific reading strategies for interpreting those texts. Students will learn and use the writing process to publish a variety of written work including expository/informative and argumentative essays. They will analyze, compare, and evaluate diverse forms of literature and writing during the school year. In all of their writing, students will learn specific skills that will strengthen their abilities as writers. 
Students will read novels in the classroom that help build reading and writing skills. Please encourage your child to read at home as much as possible!
